Writing history of a ceiling lamp

A designer light would be appropriate definition of a ceiling lamp but in reality it would be too little to describe a piece of light that has a rich history. When was the first light designed isn’t known but it is certain that it would be a candle holder made of hardwood.

Modern lights

Modern day designer lights have their roots in ancient candle holding designs. Today’s lights are fully functional. They come with both electric fittings as well as candle holders. The designs and functionality of ceiling lights have changed but the way of making lights is the same. In today’s time and age, when most of the work is completed with machines, a craftsman could be seen making a beautiful crystal chandelier with the help of manual tools.

Making a designer light is a slow and laborious process and it involves working in high temperature, handling melted glass and polishing small prisms that are difficult to hold. But lamp designers love their profession that is to make lights for homes and offices.

Unique designs

Every design is a unique design. An artisan can make a design unique using his creativity, skills, experience and desire to give his best. It is for this reason that ceiling lights made with hands are called unique lights. But it can’t be said for machine made lights.

One would be amazed to know that a ceiling light can be designed using machines. But it is true. Cheap imitations of bestselling handmade models have flooded the market and they are offered at dirt cheap price.
